Training with the Orange County Rape Crisis Center
The issue of sexual violence is challenging, complex and important. Because of this, training for volunteer positons at the Center is intensive and comprehensive. Our volunteers often tell us that the training is valuable to them both personally and professionally.
It is a priority for us that the training class reflect the diversity of the Orange County population. For this reason, we are particularly interested in recruiting African-Americans; Latin@s; Asian Americans; men; residents of northern Orange County; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered Queer and Intersexed individuals; people with experience outside the United States; older adults; those who speak languages other than English; and people with weekday and summer availability. Please continue with the application even if you do not fall into one of these target groups.
Once an application has been reviewed by a volunteer supervisors, applicants will be asked to come to the Center for an interview. The interview is an opportunity for you and the staff person you would be working with to learn more about each other: expectations, goals, requirements, concerns, etc. Among other things, we will also ask you to tell us about any personal experience you may have had with sexual violence.
