How to Create a Fundraising Page:

Step 1: Begin here: https://thevolunteercenter.givebig.org/c/TBR/a/ocrcc/f/reg/.

Step 2: Complete the form and click “Submit.” An email will be sent to you with a verification code and instructions.

Step 3: After entering your verification code, you will be prompted to create your profile name and password. Your profile name will become part of the URL address for your fundraising page.

Step 4: Once you have completed your registration, login under “Fundraiser Sign In.”

Step 5: You can edit your page by clicking “Setting” in the top left corner. You can add a personalized message, photo, and fundraising goal. (View Alyson’s page as an example.)

You have now created a fundraising page! Join us for the free community walk on Saturday, April 6. Or, if you would like to run in the race, you can register here.

Can I edit my fundraising page once it has already been created?

Yes! Login under “Fundraiser Sign In.” Edit your page by clicking “Setting” in the top left corner.

Can I run the race? 

If you’d prefer, you can register to run the race here. Registering to run costs $30, and the course is 5K certified and timed. Participating in the community walk and fundraising is free — you do not have to register. The officially timed run begins at 8:30 am. The community walk begins immediately after the runners take off. Walkers may choose to walk the full course or to take a few marked shortcuts.

What if I’m busy that day?

If you do not want to walk or run, or if you’re just busy that Saturday, we’ll miss you, but you can still create a fundraising page and support the Center!

Can I only fundraise online?

No! If you’d like to fundraise the old-fashioned way, stop by the Center, and we can provide collection envelopes. If a donor writes a check, have them make it out to “The Great Human Race” and write “OCRCC” on the memo line. You can turn in all checks at the event on April 6. If you choose not to run or walk in the race, please bring all checks to Alyson at the Center by 5 pm on April 5.

Will all of my fundraising efforts go directly to the Center?

The race is run through the Volunteer Center of Durham, so they collect 15% of all donations to cover race expenses and benefit their programs. Additionally, online donations are subject to an additional 4.75% fee. If you’d like to avoid these fees and make sure as much as possible goes to the Center, see the above question about fundraising offline, or donate directly to the Center.
